Children when you are a pwp...

Post  Admin on Sat Aug 01, 2009 11:47 am

Mine are in their twenties. I have always said no, I am independent, don't need any help from you both, and they have taken me at my word!! Not QUITE what I wanted; I wanted them to see beyond the brave face, and instead I got the literal interpretation.

When they were younger they didn't see much in the way of Parkinson's symptoms as there were medications to cover them, and anyway the youngest was 11 and beginning to move out into the world - friends were brought in, she went out with friends, and the older one was already looking outward in the way you would hope your teenagers would do, becoming more independent.

So I got what I asked for, and am still wondering should I have tied them down more? My gut feeling says no, but somewhere inside of me there is a little yes. Lurking.

They were old enough their friends could get a simple explanation for what was going on with me. Generally that was it, and a better reaction than adults who basically did not know what to say or do. Answer to that = hug, and call around... Some got to there, some didn't. Ideas??
